Nous is an intelligent assistant that helps households manage their bills, saving them money and time. We’re a fast-growing well-funded start-up led by experienced entrepreneurs on a mission to make people’s lives simpler and fairer.

We’ve thought carefully about how to ensure our product and business has a distinctive positive social impact. For more than a year now, Nous has officially been a B Corp, which means we’ve been formally accredited for our commitment to exceptionally high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Over a hundred thousand people used our free tools during the cost-of-living crisis. We’re now rolling out our paid, smart-household management service through a variety of channels – including employers who want to help their teams save hundreds of pounds (sometimes thousands) by using Nous.

With rapid growth comes many organisational challenges — including understanding the business we are building so that we can scale it faster and more effectively. Which is where you come in.

The role

Nous is deceptively complex. On the surface it looks (or should look) like a fairly straightforward service that saves you money and time by doing things for you that you hate doing.

Behind the scenes, simple is hard. There is a good deal of extensive complexity in an agentic system — a lot of basic things it has to take care of in order to be useful at all, let alone competent, responsible and reliable.

Alongside the intrinsic complexity that comes with the nature of our novel product category, there is also the real practical complexity that stems from piloting a hyper-growth company. We have rapidly scaling numbers of users on the one side and a rapidly scaling team on the other — before we even get to the other stakeholders we need to manage as we grow.

To master these various streams of complexity we have built out a fairly thoughtful data infrastructure. Making that work for us and getting real business value out of it however requires focus and care.

This BA role is therefore right at the heart of the company. You’ll be working especially closely with the founding team — Greg, Jon and Glen — and the rest of the Board, as well as across the management team, so will need to be a confident and effective communicator, comfortable expressing your ideas and insights with intelligent and experienced professionals.

You’ll be working across different teams: you could be building financial models, designing operational dashboards, making some slides for an external meeting or running ad-hoc analysis on the impact of some process changes we’ve made.

You’ll have a good level of natural commerciality. Developing and maintaining insights about Nous as it grows and deeply understanding the business as it scales is not an abstract pursuit, but an extremely practical one. You may actually have worked in a business services context (accounting, consulting or banking), but if you haven’t then you certainly might have done.
