The role

Nous is deceptively simple on the surface, but under the bonnet, it’s a rocket ship. We’re building an intelligent agent that takes care of the life admin most people avoid: finding deals, switching providers, managing renewals. To our users, it feels like magic. But simple is hard, and building something that’s not just useful, but trustworthy, responsible and agentic takes serious technical depth. This is one of the most ambitious consumer AI propositions in the UK today. There’s scale baked in (because 30 million households need what we’re building) so the opportunity isn’t just to make a useful product; it’s to pioneer a whole new category.

That’s where you come in. We’re looking for a sharp, technical operator to help us scale an AI-native service that’s already changing lives. This isn’t your average ops role. It’s part systems design, part service innovation, part software-minded problem-solving - and mission critical to how we grow from thousands to millions of users.

At Nous, users don’t just raise tickets — they ask us to take care of their bills. That means we proactively manage a complex network of workflows behind the scenes, powered by automation and increasingly, AI. To keep up with growth, we need more than process. We need people who can design systems, debug logic, and build tools that help us scale without throwing humans at the problem.

You’ll join our Managed Service Operations (MSO) team, the mission control of our rocket ship. This is a new role and you’ll be foundational - learning fast but also expected to spot the gaps, raise the bar, and drive things forward by shipping improvements that stick. You’ll need strong instincts, comfort with ambiguity, and the judgement to know when to ask versus act.

You’ll operate at the intersection of service, systems and software - designing the infrastructure that lets us scale responsibly without compromising quality. Your work will directly shape how we serve millions of households and help transform an unfair industry into one that actually works for consumers.

About you

You’re a builder at heart - not of products but of systems. You love scaling real-world impact through smart tools, clever automations and thoughtful design. You think operational problems deserve technical solutions, and you’re excited to use AI to serve thousands of users without adding headcount. You might not call yourself an engineer, but you’re technical, curious and resourceful; happiest deep in a system, figuring out how to make it smarter.

We’re setting a high bar for this role, both intellectually and operationally. The challenges here are complex, technical and constantly evolving. You’ll need to learn fast, hold a system in your head and reason rigorously through ambiguity. In practice you probably have a STEM degree from a top-tier university, although we’re open to other ways of demonstrating you operate at this level. We’re not just looking for someone smart; we’re looking for someone who makes us sharper and levels up the entire business.
