How our calculation works

We calculate your expected spend based on your council and Council Tax band. We then sum the charges within different tax years and compare what you’ll spend in the next 12 months with what you spent in the last 12 months.

Assumptions we make

  1. You do not receive a discount on your Council Tax payments.
  2. Council Tax is paid over 12 months.
  3. There is no variation in Council Tax charges for a given band within the same council.
  4. Council Tax rates will remain constant until councils announce changes.

Limitations of our calculation

There are a number of reasons why a household may receive a discount on their Council Tax bill. A list of these can be found on the government website. Our calculations do not account for this as we are unable to identify these discounts based on your address.

Our Council Tax forecast does not take into account local variation in the parish charge. This may mean that our forecast differs from the amount shown on your Council Tax bill.
