Does that scare you, or excite you?
What Nous does is absorb complexity out of its customers' lives — we're building an agent that takes on a whole class of household, industry and technical complexity, at scale. So we have, and always will have, a lot of problems to solve. We've built the company to be good at exactly that.
We're opinionated about how. Most companies separate the thinkers, the doers and the builders. Our instinct is the opposite: something special happens when they're the same person. When a small team builds and owns the tools that solve their own problems. When the person building the solution understands it from the inside, because it's their problem.
We're not blind to what that takes. You need the right tooling to build the tooling. That’s what enables a sharp systems thinker to spend their effort on the actual problem at hand - not reinventing thirty years of software engineering from first principles. If you’re not careful, moving fast can mean running headfirst into a dead end. We take that risk seriously.
None of this would have been possible five years ago. Or even two. The models weren't good enough however the benefit of models that finally are good enough won't land evenly. It takes a particular mix of humble and opinionated to rebuild how a company works around them. Which is, in the end, just another hard problem to solve.
So: if you're good at solving problems by building things, maybe we should talk?
(The basics: Nous is a UK B Corp building an intelligent agent that saves households real money on services like energy, broadband, mobile and insurance, by fixing a system that's rigged against us. Nous rhymes with "house" and means practical intelligence - common sense, applied)

Nous. The intelligent household agent
Roughly 90% of UK households are overpaying on their bills. We are all busy and distracted - and the whole system is set up to exploit that. That thing you just signed up for - a smart team of revenue analysts carefully designed that discounted introductory rate which hooked you in followed a few months later by a sneaky mid-contract price rise calibrated to be the highest possible amount that can be written in a way that doesn’t sound outrageous. Then at the end of your contract they’re all holding their breath hoping you’re too busy to move to something thats better value.
So far it’s been an unfair fight. David vs teams of Goliaths. We’re building the agent to solve this at scale; it understands your household, tracks the market, watches your renewals and price hikes, and then steps in before you lose money. We're a certified B Corp, which is how we hold ourselves to that rather than just saying it.
We’re growing ~20x YoY and already manage hundreds of millions of pounds of household spending all whilst staying a small, high context team.
Our process is designed around understanding one thing:
Could you help us create something amazing?
This isn't just about technical competence. It's about building a shared understanding of how we work and how you work. What environment enables you to do your best work, and how that compares with what working with us will be like, where context is high, pace is fast, and ambiguity is often part of the job.
